Well, dander is not a bad thing because it’s actually dead skin of their dry skin but it is also not a good thing for those who have allergies because their danders can trigger allergy very badly and make you feel miserable in a short period.

Fortunately, in terms of Giant Schnauzer, they tend to shed less and are prone to have low danders on their skin. Their danders don’t shed and spread as much as others breeds due to their hair being wary all the time. But their hair can get stuck to everything that is why it is important to know what is a good amount of danders forming that cause less possibility of allergies to be triggered by them.

Talking about Giant Schnauzer allergies and most of other hypoallergenic dogs allergies, there is three major causes of allergies that people have.

  • Saliva
  • danders
  • Urine

These three are the major and the common allergies that irritate most of the people with allergy to different degrees. These things decide how your allergy reacts and how much they are going to be affected by them.

Talking about Giant Schnauzer, there are few things that you can keep in your mind and a few goals that you should set and achieve to keep a Giant Schnauzer in your home. This goal is going to make a huge difference in how your allergy reacts around a Giant Schnauzer.

Goals to set and achieve to keep a Giant Schnauzer in your home

  • The first and most important goal that you set is to make sure that they are staying in one place and they spend most of the time in their own space like in their own bed. This way you can contain all the loose hair in one place and clean them off every morning.

  • Teach them not to lick you and to keep their tongue to themselves so that you can avoid their saliva that can make you feel irritated and itchy.

  • Make them associate the bed as their sleeping space and designated area as a peeing place. Make sure that they are peeing in a designated area.

  • Make them stay in one place as it is going to keep the danders forming at a minimum. You can easily train them on how to follow your command and make them do so.

  • Even with hypoallergenic dogs, all of them need a proper cleaning routine. So, you need to make sure that your Giant Schnauzer is always clean often as it will help to keep danders to a minimum.

  • Make sure that you brush their coat outside the house so that all the loose furs don’t get collected inside or spread all over the home.

  • It is very important to trim their hair once every 2-3 months and also brush them every three or four days to keep their skin moisturized with natural oil all the time and to prevent their skin from getting dry.

  • After every single bath, you must ensure that you moisturize their skin with proper moisturizer or bath them with proper shampoo and conditioner so that their natural oils won’t get washed off in the water.

  • Don’t ever handle your Giant Schnauzer on the couch, in the kitchen, and on your bed as their danders and loose fur can get right into your bed or couch where you will be putting your hand unconsciously and touching your nose, eyes, hair, mouth, and other parts of the body with that barehand.

  • You also need to make sure that you wash your clothes and wash your hands after handling your dog. You don’t need to wash your clothes every time you pet your dog or handle your dog but a proper hand wash is still necessary and required to maintain a healthy nature.

  • If more than one person has an allergy to animals then it is recommended to install a good air cleaner so that the oxygen in which you are breathing is always clean and allergy-free.

It can be very easy to live with the hypoallergenic dog breed like Giant Schnauzer but still, there is some work needed to be done on their coat to ensure that your dog stays hypoallergenic all his life and won’t cause any allergic reaction to people around it.

Preventing these tips and neglecting the precautions can increase the chances of getting irritated with your hypoallergenic dog. Even with the hypoallergenic Giant Schnauzer, your allergies can still act up around Giant Schnauzer.

The first lesson is to never blame your dog for allergies because if you are suffering from allergies around it then it is more likely your fault than your dog’s – like you have not taken the right precautions to prevent allergic reaction getting triggered. That is why you must know how you can take care of a Giant Schnauzer to prevent any allergic reaction from being triggered.

So here is what you need to know about precautions that you need to learn and take to make your home allergy-free.

Grooming

You may not think that grooming is going to make much difference but proper and effective grooming can make a huge difference in how your allergies or one’s allergies react around the Giant Schnauzer. By using a proper grooming method on your Giant Schnauzer you can keep those danders forming to a minimum and make them look fluffy and clean.

One of the most important factors of proper and effective grooming that is going to make a difference in how your allergy reacts around it is trimming and brushing their coat. You must ensure that you brush their coat once every two or three days and trim their coat once every 2-3 months to ensure that they are hair won’t get too much matted and dirt are not getting stuck right into the Tangled hair.

You can easily brush them with a simple brush like a slicker or pin brush. You don’t need to invest in any de-shedding tool as they are going to shed less compared to another breed. But you do need to visit the groomer to get their hair/coat trimmed and clipped once every 2 or 3 months.

Don’t use a normal trimmer that is made for humans to trim their coat. Even, a visit to the groomer once in every 2-3 months gonna uplift your budget, it is still better and worth it for your dog skin and coat. If you really want to cut those expenses, you can learn how to trim and clip their hairs by yourself. But make sure that you do it in the right way and learn from the right source to prevent any damage or harm on your Giant Schnauzer.

Bathing

Most people think that bathing them too often can keep those danders at a minimum and keep the hair from getting tangled but it’s opposite. Even, when I adopted a dog for the first time, I used to think that if I bath them once every week or two or three days, it will make them look natural, clean, and allergic free but the result was the opposite.

After seeing those results, I did hours and hours of research on dogs bathing and found that bathing a dog too often can make their sky look unnatural and dry. I also learned that dry skin promotes more than dander forming on their skin and bathing a dog frequently can wash off their natural oils from their skin.

After learning those points, I found a perfect way of bathing a dog and learn that a proper shampoo and conditioner is what makes a dog look cleaned and keeps their skin moisturized all the time. At first, I found those shampoo and conditioner way too expensive than others but believe me after a few months I can see the result and it’s worth it for your dog skin and coat too.

I only bath my dog’s once a month and sometimes even twice if needed with proper shampoo and conditioner and also moisturize their skin properly to make sure that their skin won’t get dry. One of my dogs also hates water so it also makes them happy as they are only going to put their paws once a month in the water.

I don’t know about the Giant Schnauzer, because each of them is going to be different from another but I know that, not all the dogs love getting a bath. So you should also them only when needed like once a month. However, if your dog lifestyle is more surrounded by lots of outside activity, then you may find the need for a bath due to your dog getting dirty outside, then it is OK to bath them but do it in the right way. The amount and frequency of bathing is not what matters, the right method does.

Medications

Do you know, people with the over-sensitive immune system are known to be an allergy to animals. Histamines are what cause the major problem for those who suffer from allergies. Fortunately, there are dozens of medications that you can find in the public that can help you lessen those problems and make you achieve a good and healthy immune system.

You can easily find several antihistamines at your local Walmart store and make a purchase. You just need to walk into the allergic aisle and choose your preferred antihistamines that can help you to block those histamines. This antihistamine can come in various forms to like liquid form, gels, pill form, nasal spray, and even in the form of eye drops. Choose what you prefer or what you like.

When you will be taking the antihistamine, you may experience becoming immune to those antihistamines but actually, it’s not the truth. The main reason behind this feeling can be not taking the medication properly which is essential for blocking those problems.

You must look forward to setting a reminder to take those antihistamines regularly with your meal to become less irritated and to keep your immune system healthy all the time.
